The 45th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will see India take on Netherlands at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

This is a dead rubber with India having already sealed top spot and a semi-final berth with eight commanding wins. For Netherlands, this represents their last World Cup match and chance to sign off on a high.

India have looked virtually unstoppable, outclassing opponents with both bat and ball. Virat Kohli has struck supreme form with three centuries while Suryakumar Yadav provides X-factor. The bowling unit has been lethal, never allowing teams to build momentum.

The Netherlands have exceeded expectations in their first World Cup since 2011. Upsetting South Africa and Bangladesh proved they belong on this stage. Scott Edwards and Tom Cooper have shone with the bat while seamers Paul van Meekeren and Bas de Leede impressed with the ball.

While the result doesn’t affect India’s knockout spot, they will still be keen to complete a perfect 9-0 round robin record. Expect a near full-strength side. For the Netherlands, this is about bowing out of the World Cup on a competitive note.

The Chinnaswamy Stadium should provide an entertaining setting for this clash between Asian giants and Associate minnows. Hopefully the Netherlands can make India work hard for the win.

India Overview

It’s been a surreal World Cup campaign for India as they’ve trampled over every opponent to seal a semi-final spot with a game to spare. Their batting has looked unstoppable with four centuries already.

Virat Kohli has been peerless, striking three of those tons to equal Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI record of 49 centuries. Openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have excelled along with Suryakumar Yadav’s pyrotechnics down the order.

The bowling too has been world-class. Mohammed Shami and MOhammad Siraj have struck crucial new ball blows. The spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav have choked runs in the middle overs.

Fielding has also been top-notch with rocket throws and sensational catches. India seem to have all bases covered with an embarrassment of riches in their 15-man squad.

With the semi-finals in mind, India may opt to rest captain Rohit Sharma and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. But expect them to field a strong XI and continue their ruthless momentum.

The hosts will expect nothing less than a 9-0 clean sweep of the group stage. The Dutch will have to produce something extraordinary to challenge India’s supremacy on home soil.

Netherlands Overview

It’s been an encouraging showing from the Netherlands at their first World Cup appearance in 12 years. Though ranked outside the top 10 ODI teams, the Dutch have shown they belong on the big stage.

Wins over tournament favorites South Africa and Bangladesh were the highlights as the Netherlands beat two top sides. Their batting has revolved around the experience of Max O’Dowd, Colin Ackermann and Scott Edwards.

Teenage opener Vikramjit Singh announced himself with a sparkling 52 runs against New Zealand. In bowling, the skiddy medium pacers Paul van Meekeren and Fred Klaassen have used change of pace well on flat decks.

Fielding is an area needing improvement with catches spilled at crucial moments. But the Netherlands have gained valuable exposure against top teams and players.

With this being their final World Cup match, the Netherlands will be keen to exit on a competitive note. Veterans Cooper, Edwards and Roelof van der Merwe will aim to sign off on a high.

If their batting can Post around 250+ batting first, it would give their attack something to bowl at. The Dutch have nothing to lose which makes them unpredictable and dangerous.

The spin duo of Roelof van der Merwe and Aryan Dutt should play together.

Virat Kohli will want to end the group stage on a high. For Netherlands, Scott Edwards and Colin Ackerman will be keen to sign off on a high against the tournament’s most dominant team. Both teams are expected to experiment with their XIs keeping the future in mind. Exciting youngsters could get an opportunity.

India vs Netherlands Head-to-Head

India enjoy a dominant 2-0 record over the Netherlands in ODI cricket. The two teams have met only twice in the 50-over format as of now.

Their first meeting came during the 2003 World Cup when India hammered the Dutch by 182 runs. Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar struck centuries in India’s mammoth total of 359/2.

The second ODI clash was in 2011 when India beat the Netherlands by five wickets in the World Cup. Yuvraj Singh starred with an unbeaten 51 after the Dutch had posted 188 batting first.

In their only two previous World Cup meetings, India bossed the Netherlands in every department to secure a comfortable win.

The Netherlands did upset England in the opening match of the 2009 World T20 tournament. But India’s far superior quality means the Netherlands will have to punch above their weight to even challenge the hosts.

Considering India’s red-hot World Cup form and historical dominance over Associates like Netherlands, the Men in Blue deserve to start as overwhelming favorites. But the Dutch can’t be taken lightly either.

Weather & Pitch Report

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will provide the venue for the India vs Netherlands World Cup fixture. The weather forecast predicts ideal conditions for cricket.

We can expect a sunny afternoon in Bengaluru with temperatures around 29-30 degrees Celcius. The humidity is unlikely to be very high and will reduce as the evening sets in.

Importantly no rain is predicted during match hours. The weather will be perfect for day-night cricket with cooler temperatures in the evening.

The Chinnaswamy pitch is usually an excellent one for batting with true bounce and even pace allowing strokeplay. Big scores are regularly posted here.

In five ODIs at the venue in 2022, the average first innings score was 244. However, with two strong batting lineups on show, a much higher score could be needed.

Dew could assist strokemaking in the second innings. The side chasing has won three of the last five ODIs here. Considering the batting friendly conditions, the team batting first will need at least 270-280 to defend.

With sunny skies forecast, fans can expect a run feast between bat and ball. Here’s hoping Netherlands can make India sweat despite the dead rubber nature.

India vs Netherlands Prediction

Based on recent form and statistical records, India should cruise to a comfortable win over the Netherlands. India are simply in a different league skill and experience wise compared to Associate teams like Netherlands.

Even if India opt to experiment by resting a few key players, they have excellent bench depth. The likes of Shreyas Iyer, Prasidh Krishna and Axar Patel are top international cricketers.

The Dutch batting lacks the firepower to consistently challenge a potent Indian bowling attack. Barring an exceptional day, they will struggle to post 250+ totals.

However, the Netherlands have punched above their weight at World Cups before. If their batting holds firm, their bowling unit has the discipline to restrain opponents.

But realistically, India appears far too strong across all departments. Expect their juggernaut to continue unhindered towards the semis.

That said, the Netherlands are unpredictable and will fight valiantly. India should ultimately prevail but may not have it all their own way against a spirited Dutch lineup.

India vs Netherlands Betting Tips

India are overwhelming favorites, so betting on Netherlands at long odds in match odds or bookmaker markets could give good returns if they post 250+. With India’s batting might, consider betting on them easily chasing down any target under 300 if they bat second.

Virat Kohli is in sublime World Cup form. Backing him to score 50+ or 75+ runs seems profitable.

For a bold punt, bet on Netherlands to post a 300+ or near 350 total batting first if India experiment heavily by resting their strike bowlers. Mohammed Siraj could be a strong wicket-taker if he plays. Aryan Dutt has value as Netherlands’ top bowler.

Expect another high scoring match in Bengaluru. Bet on the first innings score to be over 270+ runs. Betting on India’s superior run rates across Powerplays and middle overs is also recommended.

With the weather ideal for batting, consider betting on the match sixes tally being over 15-20 sixes.

Multiple betting opportunities arise around India’s batting dominance. But the Netherlands’ underdog odds and upset ability make them tempting differential picks in selected markets too.
